Nauvoo Connections
Canon in D
I dreamed this melody in September, 2009, then composed a canon for 2 violins, viola, cello, and double bass violin with four part voices. A canon is a piece of music in which two or more voices (or instrumental parts) sing or play the same music starting at different times Like Pachelbel's Canon, this has an "accompaniment" in the bass that is a different theme. However, Howard's Canon has a very interesting bass line. Arrangements also available for brass choir, woodwind choir, piano or by request http://www.cantos.org/music/composer.html
Canon in D was inspired by a visit to Nauvoo, where our great great grandparents lived in the 1840s, including John Lambert, Odelia Groesbeck, Jacob and Joseph Lehi Foutz, Henson Walker Jr., and more. Here is historic Nauvoo: http://www.historicnauvoo.net/.
