ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT
1992 to 1995
Silver City, New Mexico. Director of the Title VII Bilingual
Education Teacher training Grant with 20 undergraduates and 30
graduate students each semester, serving hundreds with funding
and advisement, Western
New Mexico University.
1991 - 1992
Lubbock, Texas. Associate Director of Texas
Schools, Inc., a comprehensive vocational-technical proprietary
school with over 250 students in 6 departments. Responsible for
all instructional programs, teachers, students. Introduced bilingual
education to the courses for diesel and auto mechanics, collision
repair, refrigeration/HVAC, welding.
1987 to 1992
Lubbock, Texas. Coordinator of the Bilingual/
Multicultural Resources Center, College of Education, Texas
Tech University. Responsible for a materials resource bank, various
grants, and research and development projects. The Center operated
with a budget of up to $400,000 per year. Personally acquired
funding for 11 projects, 1987 - 1994 totalling over $400,000.
1966 to now - Music Administration
In 1989 formed a publishing company, Cantos
Para Todos. Conducting research, development, production,
and promotion projects for multicultural and second language instructional
materials.
Howard Piano
Service. Full time piano tuner, business manager, business
owner, Spokane, Washington, 1977-1982. Also operated the same
business part time from 1966-77 and from 1983 to the present time.
Farmington, New Mexico. Academy Director, Four Corners
Academy of Music, 1986-87. Responsible for organizing a coalition
of music teachers, writing a plan for non-profit status and directing
the affairs of the Academy, including writing articles and publishing
a biweekly professional journal.
1974-78
US Air Force,
Caswell, Maine. Chief of Administration,
766 Radar Squadron with additional duties as personnel
officer, public affairs and information officer, social actions
officer, security/police manager, director of sports and recreation
and other management and executive support duties. Commended for
Hispanic week presentations and translations. Nominated for NORAD
Officer of the Year.
ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
I have extensive and current experience managing programs for
the communities I serve. Bishopric (since 1997). Previously served:
High Councilman, High Priests Group Leader, Boy Scout Troop Committee
Member, Secretary and Chairman, Young Men President, Ward and
Stake Music Chairman, Stake Mission Presidency (Spanish Speaking
and Minority Affairs), Secretary of the Graduate Students Association,
Department of Curriculum and Instruction in Multicultural Teacher
Education, University of New Mexico. Venezuela: Director of Public
Relations, District Leader, Branch President. Maine and New Brunswick:
Branch and District Sunday School President (over 13 Sunday School
units).
