Wichita PTG chapter meeting highlights

The Wichita Chapter of PTG meeting of October 11, 2012 was hosted at The Piano Gallery, Newton, Kansas by president J. D. Hershberger.

Ann Fell was congratulated for the recognition she received at the national convention for her service as chairman of the Tech evaluation team.

Receiving a service pin from the PTG national office was Joe Wisner for 50 years. It was also noted that J. D. Hershberger had received his 25 year pin and Alan Crane had received his 40 year pin.

Marty Hess reported to the chapter the reasons for the East Central and West Central regions of PTG combining for regional seminars in the future. The main reasons for combining were to increase the number of participants and try to get more instructors. Perhaps the increased numbers will encourage more interest from exhibitors at the seminars. 2014 will be the first seminar with the location yet to be determined.

J. D. Hershberger gave a presentation on replacing a broken leg on a Steinway model D. He showed the chapter the disassembled leg with the damage. The members got to see the internal construction and the problems J. D. encountered before he replaced the leg. Additionally, he gave extensive insights into the career of piano servicing.

The tech session was presented by Stephen Francis. He reviewed his schooling in California at the Yamaha advanced piano preparation seminar.

The Future of the Piano

We have work if people buy, play, and maintain pianos.

The future of the piano depends on it must be the center of social activity. Don't make your little ones practice alone!

The secret to financial success is to figure out how to get paid to do what you love to do.

"We love what we do, and we love doing it together"... five guys playing one piano.

Es cierto que si no duerme, se muere; pero hay tanto que leer, escribir, hacer... Si no duerme, ¡qué se aprovechen de las horas extras!
